Hand Spun Yarn - 100% Untreated Polwarth Wool
Hand Spun Yarn - 100% Untreated Polwarth Wool
This 100% Untreated Polwarth fibre was spun up into a sport-ish weight, 2 ply yarn, using my Ashford E-Spinner.
I used 22 Micron Untreated Polwarth Fibre to spin this yarn. You’ll need to be mindful of sharp temperature increases and decreases when washing this yarn, as it could felt if burned with hot water or put in the dryer. Some dye bleeding during the soaking process is normal with untreated wool.
This skein is 98 grams and approximately 345 yards. A perfect amount of yardage for a contrast colour in a sweater, or shawl. The yarn itself is soft, and has great bounce to it. The colours remind me of mermaids, those beachy jewel tones are so fun!
You can count on nice stretches of colour runs, as the barber polling effect unfolds row by row!
Hand spun yarn is special to work with, as it really does have a personality of it’s own, compared to commercially spun yarn. It is, by nature, imperfect, making your hand knits even more wonderful and unique!
Hand wash in cold water, lay flat to dry to preserve the dyes and quality of the fabric.
