This 100% Untreated Targhee fibre was spun up into a sport weight, 3 ply yarn, using my Ashford E-Spinner.
I used 23 Micron Untreated Targhee Fibre to spin this yarn. You’ll need to be mindful of sharp temperature increases and decreases when washing this yarn, as it could felt if burned with hot water or put in the dryer. Some dye bleeding during the soaking process is normal with untreated wool.
This chonker of a skein is 260 grams and approximately 890 yards. Targhee wool can be more rustic and wooly in nature, and the yarn itself has really fluffed up into a springy annd bouncy sport weight after its first bath! There is a gentle striping effect if colours, that will dazzle you as you watch your knitwear come alive row by row. I spun the singles, from one end of the braid to the other, to achieve nice stretches of colours that flow in waves from one to the next!
Hand spun yarn is special to work with, as it really does have a personality of it’s own, compared to commercially spun yarn. It is, by nature, imperfect, making your hand knits even more wonderful and unique!
Hand wash in cold water, lay flat to dry to preserve the dyes and quality of the fabric.
