Hand Spun Yarn Fade - 100% Untreated Merino Wool

This 100% Untreated Merino fibre was spun up into a DK weight, 2 ply yarn, using my Ashford E-Spinner. This set took about 24 hours of time to spin, which is why the price point is elevated in comparison to commercially spun yarn. 

I used 22 Micron Untreated Merino Fibre to spin this yarn. You’ll need to be mindful of sharp temperature increases and decreases when washing this yarn, as it could felt if burned with hot water or put in the dryer. Some dye bleeding during the soaking process is normal with untreated wool. 

With a total of 7 skeins, clocking in at 372 grams and 1,247 yards in total weight and yardage, this set could be an incredible choice for some popular patterns from Andrea Mowry. Such as The Nightshift Shawl, The Traveller Shawl, or even The Inclinations Shawl, just to name a few, there are so many options out there! The yarn itself is soft, and has great bounce to it, the colours are muted and soft, with different hues to be found within each skein. 

Hand spun yarn is special to work with, as it really does have a personality of it’s own, compared to commercially spun yarn. It is, by nature, imperfect, making your hand knits even more wonderful and unique! Embrace the imperfections, they add so much character and magic to your knitwear! 

Hand washing in cold water is recommended, lay flat to dry to preserve the dyes and quality of the fabric.
