100 grams of Spinning Fibre - 80% Superwash Merino Wool/ 20% Nylon - 22.5 Micron - Hand Dyed Combed Top

This beautiful, hand dyed merino/nylon blend is ultra soft, and easy to care for thanks to it's Superwash treatment. A joy to spin, this fibre is so soft, fluffy, and buttery smooth. A great choice for both beginner spinners, or for the more experienced. You can easily spin both fine yarns and thicker yarns with this combed top. 

A perfect choice for yarn intended for sock knitting, as the addition of nylon gives it that extra kick of durability needed for hard wearing knitwear. 

This base is NOT good for felting, because of the Superwash treatment process it has undergone. But that means it's much less fragile to handle, especially in water. I always recommend hand washing your finished yarn and laying flat to dry.

22.5 Microns - Staple Length 2"-5"

The colours of dye come out bolder, brighter and more striking on this combed top fibre, again thanks to the superwash treatment. You may notice areas of undyed, white fibre within your braid. The dye strikes almost instantly when working with this combed top, and I do try to get as much coverage as possible. What is interesting, however, is while spinning with Superwash Merino, the white sections tend to blend beautifully into the yarn, balancing out some of the more pigmented runs of colour. The results are always exciting and beautiful to watch come alive at your spinning wheel! 

The photo shown is a braid of approximately 200 grams. This product is sold in quantities of 100grams. This base tends to drift apart while in the dye pans, and can look a little shaggy in some places, although this doesn't negatively affect the drafting process when working with it. I'll do my very best to send your quantity in one continuous piece, however there is a chance that you'll receive multiple lengths to make up the weight you've ordered.
