Hand Spun Yarn - 70% BFL/30% Tussah Silk

Another personal goal of this years Tour De Fleece has been reached! After spending years aiming to spin finer, and thinner and more consistent, I was truly ready to try and spin a more heavy yarn. I was aiming for Worsted weight, but ended with a solid DK weight yarn with this 2ply this time. 

Dyed by the wonderful Jenn in Oregon, this fibre comes from the studios of Wee Chickadee, and I’ve been a long time fan girl of her dyeing talent. 

Dyed up onto 70% Bluefaced Leicester and 30% Tussah Silk, this yarn has the best of everything. Rustic wool feel, but with that silk glow that simply shines. The richness and depths of the indigos, forest greens, and hints of purples and golds have me swooning over this moody batch of yarn

Split into two seperate skeins (but sold together as a set) due to the volume of yarn, the measurements are as follows:

Skein A:  510 yards / 180 grams

Skein B: 425 yards / 154 grams

Grand Total for the set together:  935 yards /  334 grams

You can count on gorgeous colour shifting as your project unfolds row by row, with long stretches of colour transitions throughout this hand spun yarn. 

Hand spun yarn is special to work with, as it really does have a personality of it’s own, compared to commercially spun yarn. It is, by nature, imperfect, making your hand knits even more wonderful and unique! 

Hand wash in cold water, lay flat to dry to preserve the dyes and quality of the fabric.
